Spain ends VAT exemption for short holiday rentals from December 1
A 10 per cent VAT charge will generally apply to short-term holiday lets of 30 nights or fewer in Spain starting December 1, according to Euro Weekly News. The change brings short stays that were traditionally exempt into the VAT system. For many owners, this shift could add €100 to a €1,000 booking or €200 to a €2,000 stay if the cost is passed to guests. The rule applies to furnished properties rented to the same person.
