Spain introduces housing decree allowing property tax surcharges up to 150 percent

150% is the maximum property tax surcharge local councils in Spain can apply to residential properties used as tourist accommodation under a new housing decree, according to the government. The measure allows councils in designated pressure areas to increase annual property tax bills by 50% generally, rising to 100% for owners with two or more tourist rentals and 150% for those with four or more.

Portsmouth estimates up to 150 non owner occupied short term rentals

145 to 150 whole-house, non-owner-occupied short-term rentals operate in Portsmouth, according to town planner Lea Hitchen. Under current rules adopted in 2018, owner-occupied rentals do not require local permits, but town officials are currently reviewing ordinance updates with neighboring community standards.

1,800 tourist dwellings were registered in Villajoyosa by mid-2025, representing roughly 7% of the town's housing stock, according to municipal reports. The local council is considering a temporary suspension of up to two years on granting new holiday accommodation licenses in specific zones while it amends its general urban development plan.

Madison approves 11 short term rental permits and collects 5506 dollars in taxes

11 permits have been approved for short-term rentals in Madison out of 27 applications received since June 2026, according to the city. The city reports collecting $2,460 in business license revenue and $5,506 in past-due lodging taxes. Following an October 1 deadline, 57 active listings were identified, resulting in 42 notices sent to operators in violation of the local ordinance.

Booking com review value estimated at 28000 yen per room

28,000 yen per room is the estimated three-year value of a single review on Booking.com for an average property, according to a study by Beds24. Analyzing 2,199 properties that joined Booking.com after October 2023, the study found that each additional review between 10 and 99 increases monthly revenue per room by approximately 0.17%. For an average property earning about 15,500 yen per room per day, each review adds around 800 yen in monthly revenue.

NYC short term rental listings 80 percent below no law estimate

80% fewer short-term rental listings are operating in New York City than there would have been without Local Law 18, according to an iGMS study. The study estimates that many former listings have disappeared from Airbnb or shifted away from the platform following the regulation.
