Active short term rentals reach 238 in Rochester New York

There are 238 active short-term rentals in Rochester, New York, according to Ulster County data cited by town Housing Advisory Committee member Alana Blum. This figure represents 5.62% of the town's 4,240 total households. To help limit short-term rentals to a target of 2% of total homes, the Town Board will cap non-owner-occupied permits to renewals only while reviewing regulations. The town currently has 124 active permits issued through its code enforcement office, of which 69 are non-owner occupied.

Cornwall Council approves conversion of four holiday lets back into one house

Cornwall Council has granted conditional approval to convert Lakeside at Swanpool, in Falmouth, back into a single home, according to Yahoo News UK. The detached property was previously divided into four holiday let units. A planning officer noted that the loss of four self-catering units would not have a significant impact on tourism capacity. The officer's report states that the proposal will instead provide a permanent residential occupation, supporting local services throughout the year and reducing traffic generation and parking demand.

Placentia Measure L proposes to increase hotel tax to 14 percent

The Placentia hotel tax, known as Measure L, proposes to increase the city's transient occupancy tax from 10% to 14%, according to city officials. The measure is expected to generate approximately $715,000 annually. The tax is charged on overnight stays and would be paid by guests at hotels, motels, and short-term rentals in Placentia. The revenue would go into the city's general fund to support services like police patrols, fire protection, 911 response, and road repairs.
